II Peter chapter 2 is almost completely about false teachers. Peter gives warnings about them, he reveals who they are and how they operate, and he promises that they will be judged to the point of destruction. If we aren’t careful, it can be a chapter that sounds fearful or hopeless, but in the middle of it, Peter gives us reminders that every time God has exercised judgement, He has also provided mercy, that there is never destruction without an opportunity for deliverance. It’s important that we remember that mercy can’t be extended without a confrontation and God’s judgment is always a call to confess, repent and be forgiven. Tonight, we look at how false teachers operate and how God gives grace even in the midst of the most deceitful and dangerous places.
