In Luke 2, an angel appeared to a group of night watch shepherds and announced, “I bring you good tidings of great joy for all people”. The angel was announcing that something unexpected had happened, that the God that had always been for them was going to be with them, that needs were about to be met, wrongs would be righted, wounds would be healed, and hope would be restored. The angel was announcing you could not get to God, so God has come to you. The birth of Christ, the incarnation of God, the Christmas story is still good news of great joy for all people. This morning I pray that we would catch a glimpse of how far God has gone to catch our hearts and get a glimpse of His great love and tender mercy. But above all else that we would see that the Christmas story is not about our great need, but His great joy.
