Yesterday our prayer pastor, Geannine LeBude, was our speaker. Below is an introduction to her sermon. I pray that we will have a deeper awareness and a true understanding that God knows us and loves us and that no matter where we are in life we will always and feel God taking care of us and surrounding us with His love.
I want to share with you Psalm 139 and how in this Psalm David declares his understanding of being known by God. I want to look at what it means to be known by God. Because I believe as we recognize His knowledge of us we are more convinced of His great love for us. And once we accept and walk in His love we are set free from loss.
Once we are convinced that God loves us His worth in our hearts and eyes is elevated to where it belongs and the things of this life are no longer worth more than Him and we can truly say I would give everything for His love. All of life is despised and counted as nothing because we have found our treasure in the one who knows us.
Being known by God is our greatest gift. He longs for us to desire Him and for us to develop a relationship based in love with Him. Once we realize that God knows us we are securely anchored in Him and able to enjoy His Lordship over our lives. The knowledge of His love stops all the “whys” and “what ifs” and gives a place of rest and peace. And once we rest in His love for us we can then walk in His love and begin to walk in His character.
