Jesus gave the church at Laodicea probably the most famous rebuke of all times, “I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” As we talked about two weeks ago he used an analogy that they were familiar with. He said, “I could wish you were cold or hot so then because you are lukewarm and neither cold or hot, I’m about to spit you out of my mouth”…When you were hoping for something hot you didn’t get it and when you needed something cold you also did not get it. They were familiar with how unproductive lukewarm water was. So what Jesus was telling them was that what their water had become to them, they were becoming to Him. This week we’re exploring the nature of rebuke from a biblical perspective.
