This past Sunday our prayer pastor Geannine LeBude was our speaker. Below is an introduction to her sermon.
Today I want to discuss how to hide. Hiding in God is something I want to master. I want to remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty. I want to lean and rely on Him and confidently trust Him. I often get upset when I find myself in the middle of the storm and realize I have left my shelter. I have left my refuge and because of this I have opened myself up to anxiety, fear and sleeplessness, which in turn suppresses my immune system and increases my risk for sickness. I have also left God’s provision and have chosen my own strength and understanding instead of walking by faith I have chosen to leave God’s refuge.
Leaving God’s refuge is an energy zapper and wastes so much of our time being focused on the problems and circumstances of our lives. I often get overwhelmed with grief outside His shelter that tries to lead me into despair and discouragement. Living on the outside is difficult and overwhelming and filled with anxiety and disappointment.
Time and time again I pray about staying hidden and remaining in God’s perfect love that drives out all fear. I ask over and over again how I can do this better? How can I stay hidden? I must admit this constant place of being sheltered often eludes me.
Abie shared in December about going into the secret place to pray because that is where the Father is. He stated that we go to the secret place in order to seek God heart, because once we know His heart we can accept what we do not understand about His actions. Prayed focused on seeking the heart of God drives us into the secret place.
Psalms 91: 1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Psalm 91: 1-2 (Amplified Bible) He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!
These verses describe where I want to be and where I want to dwell – in the secret place of the Most High God hidden under the shadow of the Almighty. Whose power no foe can withstand. I want remain stable and fixed there as I lean and rely on Him through trust. So, my question is how do I stay hidden?
