In the book of John there are seven miracles of Jesus that John calls “signs”. These are miracles that point to Jesus’ identity as the Messiah and reveal His glory as the Son of God. We are going to spend the next seven weeks going through these “signs” one by one to see Jesus more clearly. Too often when we read Scripture we read it for ourselves. We search it to see how we fit, to find the answers to our questions and the road to our destiny, but Scripture was not written so we could see ourselves more clearly it was written to reveal Jesus, to show Him in all of His glory and power and so that we could decrease by increasing in our vision of Him.
Our fifth message in this series comes from John 6:15-21 and is the sign of Jesus walking on water. In this message we concentrate on three specific places in which Jesus’ glory is seen:
1. Jesus’ kingdom is glorious and He has invited each one of us to come in and follow Him as our king.
2. Jesus’ prayer life is glorious and He has invited each of us to enter into communion with Him that goes far beyond asking and receiving. We have been invited into a relationship that pours out and drinks deep, that loves and longs, that feeds and strengthens.
3. Jesus’ directions are glorious because He has gone with us into every step that He has set in front of us. His presence never wanes and His love is never shaken.
