Sometimes the most familiar verses of Scripture are the ones we need to study the closest to be reminded of how much power and richness they hold. This week’s study concentrates on two simple verses that hold incredible weight and purpose.
The author of Hebrews has implored His readers to “be diligent (make every effort) to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.” He then begins to reveal the gifts that God has given us to overcome unbelief that turns into sin, those gifts are the Word of God and Jesus as our great High Priest. This week our lesson rests only on the Word of God, seeing what it truly means for the Word to be alive, active and sharp and possibly above all else, seeing that the Word is, as John wrote, Jesus in all of His glory and revelation. I pray that we would approach the Word of God as we would approach God Himself, with reverence, obedience and awe. May we pray the prayer of Moses every time we open the pages of Scripture, “Please, show me Your glory!”
